BS6193 Plant Operation and Maintenance Engineer

Location Salisbury

Salary £30,000 - £38,000 DOE + benefits

Job Type Permanent

A Plant Operation & Maintenance Engineer is required to provide the basic operation and maintenance of a small plant site in Salisbury. The Plant Operation & Maintenance Engineer will need to have a mechanically biased background ideally with previous experience in relation to pressure, temperature and flow, however training is provided to the right person. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, comfortable with working with light supervision. Working hours and schedules are flexible for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

* Basic operation and maintenance of a small utilities plant, from identification of leaks and minor faults to managing specialist contractors on any faults requiring specialist attention

* Day to day running of the plant which is largely automated and operates autonomously in the main

* Source and secure basic supplies for the plant

* Continuous improvement of the plant

* Basic housekeeping in the plant area

* Calibrations of certain instrumentation

Person Specification


* Minimum NVQ level 3 qualifications in either manufacturing, marine or mechanical engineering

* Has minimum 3 years hands-on mechanical engineering in hydraulics

* Has some low voltage skills at a diagnostic level

* Attention to detail

* Good written and verbal communication


* Knowledge of steam plant processes

* Process plant operation expertise and knowledge involving flow, pressure, temperature, and level measurement and control.


Up to £38,000 depending on experience


Training provided, pension
