Detailed Job Description

A world-class company in semiconductor development and in-house production is seeking an Equipment Technician in the Manchester area. The Electro-mechanical Equipment Technician will maintain the performance of our wafer manufacturing equipment and carry out preventative and routine equipment maintenance programs to enable their wafer fab to meet its production requirements.

Please note that Equipment Technicians work a rotating shift pattern of days and nights.

Applications from suitably experienced ex-military personnel (British Army, Royal Air Force, Royal Navy or Royal Marines) are strongly encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities:

* Perform effective routine maintenance of complex wafer fab equipment
* Diagnose known faults quickly and effect efficient repairs
* Understand how the maintenance performed affects product yield
* Optimise and improve maintenance using all available indicators
* Demonstrate effective spares stock control and housekeeping practices within a class 10 cleanroom
* Work to improve individual technical competence
* Contribute to the performance of improvement teams
* Diligently observe health and safety directives and departmental procedures
* Sputter target changing
* Vacuum pump and abatement management and preventative maintenance
* Furnace tube changing
* Etch chamber cleaning
* Grinding wheel changing
* PECVD chamber cleaning and setting

Person Specification:


* Qualified to minimum ONC or equivalent in an engineering discipline or completed an apprenticeship in a similar field
* Ability to read and understand equipment documentation and preventative maintenance instructions
* Solid understanding of electrical and mechanical safety
* Effective communication skills both verbally and in writing
* Capability and drive to learn to operate several equipment sets
* Ability to react to unforeseen events as they occur
* Willingness to work a rotating shift pattern of days and nights
* Experience of manufacturing maintenance (preferred)
* Be in or around the Manchester area


£34,000 - £37,000 + benefits and overtime + shift rota
