Job Summary

A Commercial Officer is needed in the commercial department of an industry- leading aerospace company. The Commercial Officer will be responsible for the effective commercial account management of allocated customer accounts, with particular focus on bid and proposal preparation in accordance with company procedures, contract management and customer relationship management. This challenging role will require a self-motivated individual, who has the ability to work to meet deadlines and demonstrate self-confidence when communicating at all levels within the company and with Senior Customer Representatives. Commercial Officers should be highly literate and numerate, with a high-level of attention to detail, with strong IT skills. They should also have the adaptability and flexibility to act and react to customer requirements, maintaining high-levels of customer service.

Detailed Job Description

A Commercial Officer is needed in the commercial department of an industry- leading aerospace company. The Commercial Officer will be responsible for the effective commercial account management of allocated customer accounts, with particular focus on bid and proposal preparation in accordance with company procedures, contract management and customer relationship management. This challenging role will require a self-motivated individual, who has the ability to work to meet deadlines and demonstrate self-confidence when communicating at all levels within the company and with Senior Customer Representatives. Commercial Officers should be highly literate and numerate, with a high-level of attention to detail, with strong IT skills. They should also have the adaptability and flexibility to act and react to customer requirements, maintaining high-levels of customer service.

Applications from ex-military personnel (Royal Air Force, Royal Navy, US Air Force, US Navy and US Marine Corps) are strongly encouraged.

Key Responsibilities:

* Proposal and bid preparation of proposals for spares, equipment and support equipment.
* To build customer relationships and maintain professional and jointly beneficial customer relationships. Be the main point of contact for customer enquiries.
* To ensure the smooth flow-down of contract management requirements to internal departments and adhere to strict deadlines.
* To negotiate new contracts and changes to existing contracts.
* To administer the contracts through their entire life-cycle: order loading instructions, order change instructions, order book management including customer reports.

Prior Experience:

* Required: Experience in a Contracts/Commercial role within the aerospace/defence industry would be a benefit but individuals with experience in other industries would be considered if they can demonstrate transferable skills.
* Desirable: Experience and knowledge with US Government procurement procedures and practices, including Federal Acquisition Regulations (FARs), Defense FARs and US/UK export control (ITAR/EAR).
* Desirable: Prior military experience or civilian working within the military, preferably with experience with the administration of contracts.
* Desirable: Degree-level qualified (2.1 or above) in Engineering, Law, Business or similar discipline.

Skills and Person Specification:

* Confident, self-motivated, professional individual with a high level of customer focus.
* The ability to build and develop relationships within the business and with customers.
* Commercially aware, able to identify and mitigate risks to the business.
* High attention to detail.
* Strong literacy and numeracy, able to present professional written offers to customers.
* High level of IT skills, confident user of Word, Outlook and Excel.

Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 depending on experience

Hours: 8:00 - 5:00 (Friday is a half day)
