Lee & Eddie's Walk 4 PTSD

On Saturday 1st October Lee Clayson, Regional Director of FRS' South West Office, along with his loyal Cocker Spaniel 'Eddie' completed a 12.5 mile 'Walk4PTSD' event to raise much needed funds for a very worthy cause.

The charity walk, organised by the Royal Engineers Association (Plymouth Branch), marks the start of Veterans in Action’s Post Traumatic Stress Awareness (PTSD) Month. All proceeds raised by the event have gone to Veterans in Action, a charity dedicated to raising funds for veterans suffering the effects of war or who are finding the transition to civilian life difficult. 

Lee and Eddie were joined by around 25 other people who completed the walk, which was started off by Plymouth MP, Johnny Mercer.  Johnny is a veteran himself and is very vocal in supporting veterans with mental health issues, particularly in Plymouth but also in Westminster.

Hero of the hour was ‘Eddie’, Lee's 3 year old Cocker Spaniel (the furry one looking a little shocked in the photo) having never walked 12 miles before! He was overheard saying in the pub afterwards that he is unlikely to voluntarily walk that far again.  We will see! 

Lee personally raised a little over £800 for this very worthy cause. Great work Lee and Eddie!
