Job Summary

Our client is a specialist in the design, manufacture and supply of large and high integrity power supplies for the defence engineering and energy industry sectors, and packaging extremely powerful electronic equipment in small boxes. They are seeking a Mechanical Engineer on a part-time and temporary basis, to develop niche solutions for harsh environments across a wide product range. This Mechanical Engineer will provide mechanical design expertise in support of business opportunities. This will include feasibility studies, technology developments, concept designs for new products and bids and proposals. For the role of Mechanical Engineer, you will be working on a reduced hours basis, on a temporary contract, which may be converted to permanent depending on resource requirements. The role is responsible for providing mechanical design expertise in support of projects.

EB5507: Part-Time Mechanical Engineer

Salary: Competitive

Location: Rugeley, South Staffordshire

Position: Permanent (24.7 hrs a week)

Our client is a specialist in the design, manufacture and supply of large and high integrity power supplies for the defence engineering and energy industry sectors, and packaging extremely powerful electronic equipment in small boxes.

They are seeking a Mechanical Engineer on a part-time and temporary basis, to develop niche solutions for harsh environments across a wide product range. This Mechanical Engineer will provide mechanical design expertise in support of business opportunities. This will include feasibility studies, technology developments, concept designs for new products and bids and proposals.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

* Generate concept design proposals and feasibility studies to support product development

programmes

* Carrying out elements of the product design
* Contribute to the development of engineering excellence within the business
* Provide the engineering department with mechanical engineering expertise in support of future business opportunities

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

* An HNC / HND or higher in Mechanical Engineering
* Broad knowledge of all aspects of engineering (e.g. systems, electrical, electro-mechanical)
* Appreciation of electrical aspects of cabinet design (e.g. EMC, stray fields, creepage and clearance, insulation systems)
* Experience in manufacturing methods applicable to electronic cabinets; sheet metal fabrications, welding, machining, corrosion protection
* Proficient in the use of 3D CAD. SolidWorks is preferred.
* Good knowledge of materials
* Good knowledge of best practice design lifecycle process; gated design phases, design reviews.
* Good in front of customers; willing and able to make presentations.
