Job Summary

Due to the continued growth of the business, we are looking to expand our client's operations with the addition of a highly motivated and career minded individual to join our existing maintenance team. The role of Preventative Maintenance Engineer will be based from home and offers the successful candidate the opportunity to travel to various key account sites completing pre-planned maintenance routines on a wide variety of life safety equipment types, predominantly fire alarms or associated systems. Additional supplementary training will also be provided and tailored to the individual needs of the successful candidate, based upon their previous experience, qualifications and skills to further develop their abilities where we feel it necessary to meet the requirements of this role. EB5445 Preventative Maintenance Engineer

Salary: £21,000 to £26,000 (OTE £25K - £32K)

Location: Based from home. On M4 Corridor, London to Reading preferred

Position: Permanent

Main Duties / Responsibilities

* To deliver timely and effective pre-planned maintenance in accordance with company procedures & latest statutory requirements
* To fit in with an existing team who are fully committed and driven toward achieving best results
* To partake in an Engineering Support Rota, typically 1 week in 5 as a backup engineer where weekend attendance may be required
* To always present and conduct oneself appropriately given the nature of their position and importance of our service clients

Experience / Qualifications:

* Previous experience in a fire alarm maintenance role for one or more fire system companies
* Grade C GCSE or above equivalent in Maths, English and any technical related subject
* City & Guilds 231 Electrical Parts 1 & 2 / IEEE 17th Edition / ONC in Electronic Engineering / FIA Electrical Competency or equivalent
* FIA or IFEDA qualified in fire systems design & maintenance
* ICEL qualified in emergency lighting maintenance
* Extensive knowledge and understanding of a variety of life safety system types such as Fire Alarms, Emergency lighting, PAVA, Disabled Refuge & Call Alarms, AOV & Dampers, Leak Detection, Gas Extinguishing Systems, Fire Extinguishers
* Working knowledge and understanding of the applicable codes of practice governing the above equipment types, eg BS5839-1(2017)
* Extensive working knowledge of most of the following OEM's products, Gent, Advanced, MultiIfax, Protec, Apolllo, Hochiki, Baldwin Boxhall, Tyco, Menvier, TOA, Kentec, Notifier, Morley IAS
* Some experience of investigating & repairing fire alarm system faults, such as failed or missing devices, double addresses, open circuit, short circuit, short to circuit and / or building earth
* Fully conversant with MS Word, Excel & Outlook re electronic reporting
* Fully accepting of our outline role requirements, as set out within our prospective employee questionnaire
* Highly motivated, Punctual & Smart
* Shows excellent attention to detail
* A logical outlook, able to repeatedly follow clear instructions
* Ability to command the respect of his peers and work by example
* Committed & loyal to the company, it's aims and wider objectives
* A fluent and confident communicator, both verbally and in writing
* A willing, able and safe driver, holding a full valid UK Driving Licence with a maximum of 3 penalty points
* A desire to learn and develop, always aiming to perform at the highest levels, so that they may be considered for future promotion
