EB5375: Project Engineer

Salary: £38.000 DOE

Location: Nuneaton, West Midlands

Position: Permanent

An exciting requirement for a Project Engineer has arisen to work with a world class, independent engineering consultancy, operating in multiple locations around the world, to support vehicle manufacturers and their supply chain with cutting-edge engineering and testing expertise. The main purpose of the Project Engineer role is to develop and deliver routine and bespoke testing of components and sub systems, to meet customer requirements, from initial enquiry to final report

Key Function / Responsibilities:

* Working with customers to understand and develop test requirements for components and/or sub systems.
* Designing bespoke test solutions to meet customer test requirements for components and/or sub systems.
* Managing the deliverables of a test project, including initial proposal, overall

costs, resource management (facility & manpower), rig construction and optimisation, health and safety and communications with the customer.

* Programming test controllers to control displacement/force/acceleration of

hydraulic or pneumatic actuators used in testing components and/or sub systems.

* Analysing data collected during testing.
* Generating a final technical report for delivery to the customer.
* Identifying opportunities within the department for Continuous Improvement and managing Continuous Improvement projects within the department.

Experience

Essential experience for this role would include:

* ·Experienced in developing programmes for durability/endurance testing of mechanical

components.

* ·Worked within an automotive or aerospace component test environment.
* ·Working knowledge of automotive systems/mechanisms.
* Experience of Solidworks or similar modelling CAD/CAE package.
* Full, clean driving licence.

Desirable experience for this role would include:

* Durability / fatigue testing of components or sub systems using hydraulic or pneumatic actuators.
* Programming experience in at least one of the following: Opto22, Kuka robots,
* Hydraulic controllers (Instron, Moog, MTS etc.).

Qualifications

Essential qualifications for this role would include:

* Good first degree (minimum 2:1) in mechanical & automotive engineering or relevant technical discipline.

Desirable qualifications for this role would include :

* Higher degree (relevant M.Sc or Ph.D).
* Corporate membership of an engineering institution including Chartered Engineer qualification.
