BS5281: Quality and Environment Manager

Salary: Competitive plus Car, Medical Insurance, Pension

Location: Southampton, Hampshire

Job Type: Permanent

The world's largest manufacturer of high-technology cables and systems for energy and telecommunications is now looking for a Quality and Environment Manager to join its team. The Quality and Environment Manager will be responsible for supporting the Quality and Environment Director with the effective management of quality and environment in accordance with Company rules and policies as well as legal and external requirements such as ISO9001 and ISO14001.

Key Responsibilities

* Assisting in providing the interface with all external bodies and with Group Quality and Environment groups on UK Quality and Environmental issues.
* Supporting with the provision of quality and environmental measures and data as required for the Company's UK sites.
* Assisting with reviewing legislation for Quality and the Environment and advising on the applicability to Company UK operations.
* Supporting the preparation of company returns where required by legislation and where appropriate preparing company returns on behalf of the company, e.g. Packing Waste obligations.
* Supporting the development of best practice procedures where the need is identified.
* Assisting with the annual review of the effectiveness of the Management System.
* Helping ensure that the quality activities within the UK align with Corporate policies.
* Facilitating and supporting the Company UK wide internal audit system to meet ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 requirements.
* Facilitating and supporting external audits of the company's Management System.
* Assisting in the assessment of new suppliers, auditing management systems and confirming quality approvals, including supplier ratings where applicable.

Key Qualifications and Experience

* Educated preferably up to degree level or similar in a relevant Technical/Engineering subject.
* Candidates will have come from a technical background and had previous experience within a manufacturing environment.
* Candidates will have experience of managing Quality from a corporate position and have experience of conducting audits and working with external audit companies.

* It is essential that candidates have worked with ISO 9001 before.

* Certificate in Quality Management.
* Membership with a relevant institution (e.g. CQI).
* A high degree of numeracy, accuracy and attention to detail.
* Experience and knowledge of management systems and methodologies.
* Relevant quality, environment and auditing experience.
* Knowledge of risk management best practices and ability to communicate these at all levels across the Company.
* IT skills in MS Office.
* Applicants should be customer focussed and able to communicate at all levels, with both technical and non-technical people.
