BS4915: Production Planner

Salary: £27,000 plus Benefits

Location: Southampton, Hampshire

Job Type: Permanent

The world's largest manufacturer of high-technology cables and systems for energy and telecommunications is now looking for a Production Planner to join its Logistics Department. Reporting to the Production Controller, the Production Planner will have a key role and be responsible for scheduling the efficient running of production to meet Customer deliveries and Management Plan requirements.

This role would suit ex-military candidates and applications from ex-service personnel are strongly encouraged.

Key Responsibilities

* Produce daily schedules for machine operations of cable through the factory using SAP scheduling tools
* Produce a daily deployment schedule in conjunction with planned production
* Work closely with Raw Materials department to ensure timely delivery to shop floor
* Ensure timely communication of customer order status to the Commercial Department
* Analyse demand for stock and maintain appropriate stock levels
* Attend daily Production meetings and present current status of shop floor orders
* Develop and implement continuous improvement activities to maximise efficiency

Key Qualifications and Experience

* The successful candidate will ideally be educated to Degree/HNC level, preferably with experience gained from within a manufacturing environment, utilising modern Inventory Control techniques.
* Applicants must be capable of analysing complex production schedule situations to ensure effective optimisation of all manufacturing constraints.
* It is essential that candidates have intermediate Excel skills as a minimum.
* Applicants will have previous experience of using SAP to a high level, preferably with material master and production planning module experience.
* This will be a pivotal role between the Commercial and Logistics departments, ensuring effective and timely communication. You will therefore be required to have excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and will need to be a confident and self-motivated team player.
* You will have excellent organisation skills and must be flexible to meet demanding deadlines.
