Job Summary

An opportunity has arisen for the requirement of a Senior Power Electronics Engineer to support the design, manufacture and supply novel power dense static converters and motors. The role of Senior Power Electronics Engineer comes with a very competitive salary and various company benefits including Critical Illness Insurance, Life Assurance and Dental Plan. The Senior Power Electronics Engineer will be responsible for delivering robust and cost effective power electronic solutions to a range of niche applications such as submarine power systems, high integrity power supplies, naval propulsion and specialist industrial drive systems. The Senior Power Electronics Engineer will become involved in all stages of the engineering lifecycle; from concept, through to verification and validation of production systems. As part of a team, you will develop power electronic solutions that successfully meet the overall objectives of the project.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Delivering robust and cost effective power electronic solutions to a range of niche applications such as sub-marine power systems, high integrity power supplies, naval propulsion and specialist industrial drive systems.
Develop power electronic solutions that successfully meet the overall objectives of the project.
Involved in all stages of the engineering lifecycle; from concept, through to verification and valida-tion of production systems.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

Educated to degree level or equivalent in electrical or electronic engineering or a related discipline.
Broad knowledge and understanding of power converter design and application.
Ideally, you will have worked on power electronic products operating from 400V ac supplies and switching more than 100 Amps.
Preferably have a detailed understanding of digital control of asynchronous and permanent magnet machines, and an ability to use simulation tools such as MATLAB and Simulink, although training can be provided on simulation tools.
Proven track record of product design and verification in a relevant environment.
Strong communicator and will possess the ability to work as part of a team or as an individual.
Ability and willingness to work to processes and procedures.
