Dudley Council signed up to the Armed Forces Covenant a number of years ago and The Mayor acts as their Armed Forces Champion. He was keen to highlight the following:

The Options+ Leisure Scheme

The Options+ is a discount scheme that makes leisure activities in Dudley affordable for everyone. It offers significant savings to residents and non-residents, including UK Armed Forces serving personnel and Veterans. More details of this scheme can be found here.

Guaranteed Interview Scheme

If a Veteran or a serving Forces member sees a vacancy through the council and their CV matches the post's requirements, the council guarantee them an interview for the position.

A Call Out To Veterans Within Dudley Borough

Dudley Council are launching a new project to identify serving military personnel and Veterans located within the Borough so that they can be properly recognised and shown appreciation for their service.

Armed Forces Community Covenant Working Group

Dudley Council and The Mayor are putting the final touches to a new group which will meet on a regular basis to discuss the council's work on the Community Covenant as well as the efforts of businesses in the area in line with the Corporate Covenant.

It is clear from Paul’s discussion with the Mayor that Dudley Council are working hard go ensure the military personnel and Veterans within the Borough are being given the opportunities and recognition they deserve.
