How to Join Our Twitter Chat

You've heard about our Twitter Chat on the last Tuesday of every month at 1pm? Excellent! So, how do these Twitter chats work and how do you go about joining in?

If you're new to Twitter or haven't participated in a live Twitter chat before, here are some useful tips to help you get started:

First things first:

A Twitter chat is when a group of Twitter users 'meet' at a pre-determined time to discuss a certain topic, using a designated hashtag (#). In our case it's #careerchangechat.

We will pose questions (designated with Q1, Q2…) to prompt responses (using A1, A2…) and encourage interaction amongst you all. Chats typically last an hour.

Imagine a business networking event—but without a dress code. The same social customs apply—courtesy and respect—and it’s a great way to meet new people with similar interests.

You can also leave the Twitter Chat whenever you want or you can just 'listen'. There's no obligation.

What Next?

  • Sign up for a Twitter account if you don't have one already. If you're new to Twitter we recommend taking a few minutes to learn what it’s all about.
  • Make sure you're following FRS on Twitter.
  • Follow our hashtag '#careerchangechat' using a Twitter Chat tool such as tchat. Using tchat, you just add the hashtag you want to follow (#careerchangechat) and begin chatting. Simple! The hashtag will be automatically added to each tweet, and the feed will update as you chat!

What to expect

Our #careerchangechat will always begin with a few minutes of welcome/warm up chat. We'll then begin to ask questions using this format:

@ForcesReruits: Q1: How is your day going? #careerchangechat

@You: A1: I'm having a great day thank you @ForcesRecruits! #careerchangechat

@ForcesRecruits - Q2: What was/has been your biggest transition challenge? #careerchangechat

@ANother - A2: Civilian job interviews. I struggle explaining my military skills and experience. #careerchangechat

@Sum1Else - A2: I agree with @ANother. Civilian job interviews are a real challenge! #careerchangechat

Notice how each question is numbered 'Q1, Q2, etc' and each answer corresponds with: 'A1, A2, etc?'

One last thing...

If you decide not to use a Twitter chat tool such as tchat, you must remember to include our hashtag #careerchangechat in every response

Still confused?

Don’t worry, you have to try it a few times before it all sinks in.  We’re here to help! Tweet us at @ForcesRecruits or get in touch with us via our HQ.
