Avoiding Recruitment Scams

Alarmingly, the past two years has seen a 300% rise in job scams, resulting in over 700,000 job seekers losing more than £500,000.

Predominately targeting lower-paid job hunters, so called ‘recruitment’ scammers con people into paying for fake security checks and training, and tricking them into calling premium rate phone lines to be interviewed for non-existent jobs.

Research carried out by SAFERjobs, a non-profit organisation created by the Metropolitan Police, found that 72.1% of job hunters admitted they do not know and would not recognise the signs of a job scam.

Our Pledge

In March last year, SAFERjobs announced a new framework for recruiters and job boards, launched by Ben Howlett MP. The framework contains a Code of Conduct for job boards and a set of good practice principles for recruitment agencies, which complements and reinforces established industry standards.

Forces Recruitment Services has always been committed to delivering an open and honest service to our candidates and employers. To this end, we are in the process of signing-up to the SAFERjobs framework, validating ourselves as meeting current legislation and industry requirements.

FRS is also a proud member of the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) and as such we are committed to the REC code of professional practice. We observe the highest principles of ethics: integrity, professional conduct and fair practice.
