Under the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD), buildings now require an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) upon construction, sale or rental and public buildings require a Display Energy Certificate (DEC). An energy assessor carries out the survey of the building and performs the calculations required to produce the certificate and accompanying Advisory Report (AR) for lodgement on the government database Landmark. All energy assessments must be carried out by a fully qualified assessor who is registered with an approved accreditation body.
